Resident Evil HD is Capcom’s fastest selling digital title ever

Capcom confirmed today that Resident Evil HD, the 2015 remaster of a 2002 remake of a 1996 Playstation game, was their fastest selling digital title to date in North America and Europe, and has the highest first day sales of any Playstation Network release.

The push to full game digital downloads has well and truly arrived with this generation, despite the backlash against the Xbox One’s original vision of a ‘digital future’ (which to be fair was more based around DRM and ownership than the concept of digital downloads). Combine digital availability with one of the most popular games of all time and you have smashed sales records for both Capcom and Sony.

Resident Evil HD is available on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC now. You can check out our review here.
