Resident Evil 6 downloadable PSN version is bugged

Reports are coming in that the Day 1 Digital version of Resident Evil 6 available on the Playstation Network Store contains a bug which renders the game unplayable. A patch which players are prompted to download when first booting up the game appears to be the root of the issue. Capcom have advised that there is a temporary fix while they are hard at work on a more permanent one.

“The temporary fix to ensure people can enjoy RE6 today as intended is to ask those people to un-install the game (only if they originally saw an error message) and re-install the game,” says Capcom. “This time they won’t be prompted to download the patch and the game will load.”

There is a side effect to the fix however. Digital players will be unable to play with or against disc based gamers. Capcom have said that they are working with Sony on the issue and hope to have it rectified shortly. Additionally, gamers with a digital copy will be unable to link their account to RE.net until the patching issue is fixed.
