Report: Microsoft wants to bring Halo TV series to Showtime

Variety is reporting that Microsoft “is deep in negotiations with Showtime” to bring the Steven Spielberg produced, live-action Halo TV series to the cable network.

According to Variety Microsoft ” is close to a deal with a pair of showrunners” who will drive the show forward based on the franchise’s mythology bible created by Screenwriter Stuart Beattie. The deal between Microsoft and Showtime has reportedly been in protracted negations due to the unique nature of the project. Episodes will air first on Showtime and then follow on Xbox with enhanced interactivity.

The Halo series is part of the Xbox Entertainment Studios push for original, scripted television on the Xbox One. President Nancy Tellem said the programming will consist of “premium television experiences.”
