Rainn Wilson joins the cast of Star Trek: Discovery

The Office‘s Rainn Wilson will play Harry Mudd on Star Trek: Discovery, CBS has recently confirmed.

Wilson, who has also starred in Galaxy Quest, House of 1000 Corpses, Six Feet Under and Juno, will take on the role of Mudd, previously established in Star Trek: The Original Series and Star Trek: The Animated Series.

Mudd is described as a “charismatic conman and intergalactic criminal”.

Wilson joins a long list of already confirmed cast members, including Mary Wiseman (Longmire) as Tilly, a Starfleet Academy Cadet, James Frain (Gotham) as Spock’s father, Sarek, Doug Jones (Hellboy) as Lt. Saru, a Starfleet Science Officer, Anthony Rapp (Rent) as Lt. Stamets, a gay Starfleet Science Officer and Jason Issacs (Harry Potter) as the Discovery’s Captain Lorca.

Star Trek: Discovery is now expected in later winter. It’ll air on Netflix here in Australia.
