PlayStation VR horror game Here They Lie has bucked the trend of games patching in VR support, by doing it backwards.
Here They Lie launched as a PS4 VR exclusive in October, requiring the headset to be played. Developer Tangentlemen has today released a patch that removes PS VR as a mandatory requirement by enabling gameplay using a standard TV setup.
The update also improves the game’s performance on PS4 Pro, which is evident regardless of if you’re playing with PS VR or a TV screen. It adds both 4K and HDR support on compatible TVs, and a higher quality render on PS VR.
“Many of you had really great requests for Here They Lie, and we’ve implemented as many of them as we could,” said co-creative director Cory Davis on the PlayStation Blog. “New additions include a controller configuration screen, the highly requested Chapter Select screen, subtitles (only for the Standard version), and a slew of visual upgrades — like improved anti-aliasing and lighting across the board.”
