The PS4 controller (kinda) works with the PS3

Now, we’re not entirely sure why you’d really want to do this — as we’d expect gamers to have a PS4 controller shortage and not a PS3 one — but Sony’s new PS4’s controllers will mostly work with your old PS3.

YouTuber Udetto made the discovery, saying that the functionality works best when the PS4 controller is connected to a PS3 via USB.

Udetto demonstrates the feature using Urban Trial Freestyle, but was unable to get the PS4 controller to work with FIFA 14.

Sony’s confirmed that PS3 controllers will not work with the PS4. We’ve found that the new DualShock 4 controller is far superior to the PS3’s DualShock 3, so maybe gamers who get a taste of the new controller will decide they simply need to use it on their older console.

The PS3 will be available from 29 November in Australia and New Zealand.
