Pokémon Go: What to do when your Pokéball freezes in the middle of a catch

It’s happened to us all a million times now — you go to catch a Pokémon inside Pokémon Go, and things are going well. Your Pokéball wraps around the Pokémon and shakes once. Shakes twice.

Then the Pokéball freezes.

Now, this doesn’t work 100% of the time, but that shiny, rare Pokémon you were trying to catch may not be lost! We’ve found if you wait for the game to think about what’s happened, then force quit, the greater the likelihood that the Pokémon will show up in your Pokédex.

If you get this horrid glitch, wait for the Pokéball icon (that designates a save) in the top-left of your screen to disappear. Then, force quit the app and restart. You can confirm if you actually caught the Pokémon by clicking onto your character in the bottom-left of screen, then heading to your journal.
