Playstation Heroes gives you the chance to game with celebrities and raise money for charity

Sony has announced the Playstation Heroes initiative, where spending money on select themes gives you the chance to win a place in monthly celebrity gaming sessions. 90% of the money collected from theme purchases will go to charity.

The program starts later this month with the official Playstation Heroes app launching 24 February on the US Playstation Store. The first gaming session will be help in March with legendary snowboarder Shaun White playing Destiny, with proceeds going to the Make-A-Wish foundation. Other celebrities announced as part of the program include Stephen Curry, Snoop Dogg and Yasiel Puig.

Themes available through the Heroes app will be priced from $1 USD to $15 USD, with every dollar spent earning one entry into the sweep. A complete pack will be available each month for $20 USD that grants 31 entries to the sweep. You can check out the full details on the US Playstation Blog, at the moment there is no announcement of worldwide versions of the program.
