Nintendo shines a light on Tri Force Heroes’ Download Play functionality

One of the greatest features of the 3DS is Download Play. Allowing players to play with their friends regardless of how many copies of the game are in possession is a really powerful tool, but one that is often overlooked and underused.

Nintendo, being the developer of the hardware, usually make the most of the features that pack in and once again they’ve stepped up with Tri Force Heroes. Explaining how the Download Play functionality would work in the upcoming title, Nintendo revealed that the campaign would be entirely playable, but the multiplayer PvP mode would not.

Those using Download Play will be able to visit any locations previously opened up by the game’s owner as well as being able to create two costumes; based of those created by the owner. Save data created by using Download Play will transfer to the full game if the player purchases it.

The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes will be available for 3DS 24 October.
