Nintendo is thinking about what steps need to be taken to make the NX region-free

Thanks to Vooks, we’re aware that Nintendo is considering region-free for the Nintendo NX.

During a Q&A, Iwata was asked about removing the region locking on Nintendo’s newly announced project and the President and CEO said it was something Nintendo was considering internally (translated by Kyle Mclain on Twitter).

According to Iwata, the 3DS and Wii U region locking is unlikely to be changed as it would be functionally difficult to achieve, but for the next generation, i.e. NX, he understands region-free is something the market demands.

Iwata and Nintendo are thinking about the steps required to implement region-free with the NX, but at this stage, no decision has been made.
