N64 classic Pokémon Snap coming to Wii U Virtual Console on Friday

Nintendo 64 fan favourite Pokémon Snap is being released on the Wii U Virtual Console this Friday.

Nintendo confirmed it will be released in Australia and New Zealand when the eShop updates on Friday (Thursday in Europe).

The on-rails FPPS (first-person photo shooter) puts you in the shoes of Todd Snap in his mission to photograph 63 of the then 151 Pokémon. The unique spin-off concept was well received by critics and popular with fans, selling more than 1.5 million copies on N64.

Pokémon Snap was originally released in North America in June 1999, but Australians has to wait until March 2000 (and Europeans until September) in the era of horrendous Pal region delays. It was re-released on Wii Virtual Console in 2007.

Nintendo 64 games have been scarcely released on the Wii U Virtual Console, with just 15 on the Australian eShop.
