Mortal Kombat X worldwide tournaments are coming

Mortal Kombat X wants to be taken seriously by the competitive fighting game community, and has launched the ‘Mortal Kombat X Worldwide Competitive Program’ to show off top level competitive play.

Ignoring the dull name, the Worldwide Competitive Program is a series of worldwide tournaments with over $100,000 in prizes committed so far. Weekly online tournaments will be held for prizes and the opportunity to compete in live events, including the grand finals held 11 July in Los Angeles. You can find more details on the official site.

No word yet as to Australia’s ability to participate, North America and Europe are specifically mentioned but the “worldwide” moniker gives me hope.

Mortal Kombat X arrives 14 April for Xbox One, PS4 and PC with a later release planned for PS3 and Xbox 360.
