Disney Interactive has used the opening of the film Maleficent to announce that the titular character played by Angelie Jolie would be joining the cast of characters featured in Disney Infinity 2.0.
Joystiq reports the announcement was made Wednesday night (in San Francisco) at a preview screening of the film. Alongside Maleficent, Disney announced Princess Merida of DunBroch from Pixar’s Brave will also feature in Disney Infinity 2.0. Merida was chosen due to her popularity in social media polls run by Disney.
Both characters will be playable in Toy Box mode, but at this stage don’t appear to have a featured Play Set. In Toy Box mode Maleficent will be able to use ranged magic while Merida will use bow and arrows.
Disney Infinity 2.0 will launch this September for iOS, PC, PS3, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Stevivor will be going hands on with the sequel at this year’s E3, so stay tuned.
