How to access Xbox Live content if you’re suffering from iiNet issues

The issues accessing and installing Xbox Live content through ISP iiNet are continuing this week and for customers on iiNet, Internode, Westnet and Adam Internet it may be becoming incredibly frustrating.

Thankfully, our good friends at MMGN have come up with a handy guide on how those affected by the issues can get access to and download content and updates. The fix is as simple as changing the DNS on the affected Xbox console, this will however mean that your downloads are no longer included in the Freezone.

The two best options for changing the console’s DNS settings are either Google’s or one obtained through an unblocking service. To change the console’s DNS navigate to,

  • Settings > Network > Advanced Settings > DNS Settings
  • Select manual and input the DNS you’d like to use

For Google’s DNS you’ll want to use; Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8 Secondary DNS: 8.8.4.4. For any of the unblocking services — Unblock Us, UnoTelly etc — simply follow the steps on their website.

As noted by MMGN, changing DNS settings moves Xbox content outside the Freezone and will count towards your data quote however, as Xbox Live is marketed as unmetered you should contact your ISP (if one of those affected) and request some data packs to cover that which would otherwise not be counted in your monthly total. Each request will be assessed on its own merit, but it seems likely at this stage that the ISPs will accommodate your request.

Anyone having any luck with their Xbox One on iiNet?
