Hi-Rez announces its plans for Smite Season 2

After the resounding success of the first Smite World Championship earlier this year Hi-Rez Studios has announced its plan for Season 2 of Smite.

2015 will feature a 3 split season — Spring, Summer and Fall — and conclude with the next Smite World Championship. A LAN tournament will be held after each split featuring the top teams from each region battling it out. After the Fall split the best teams from each region will get an invite to the Smite World Championship for their chance to be crowned the best in the world.
The remaining teams will need to fight through the Spring Split Qualifiers once more to regain their spot in the Spring split.

It seem likely that the next Smite World Championship will be another crowdfunded affair after raising a $2.6 million USD prize pool for this years event.
