Getting error codes in Super Smash Bros. Wii U? Don’t format your console

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is having some online issues, with users reporting that Error Code 160-0103 is appearing when playing online and in the “For Glory” mode. That is inconvenient enough, but taking steps to fix this issue by deleting the game data on your system can cause the much more serious issue of bricking your console.

Nintendo had originally advised to do exactly that, delete your game data, but that can lead to the bricked console issues should the user attempt to format their system. While nothing has been announced by Nintendo, expect a patch soon to fix the problem, but until that time users experiencing this error will have to hold tight. More information can be found on Smashboards and Reddit.
