Fantasy Sports become Fantasy Esports with Fantasy League of Legends

It was only a matter of time before the hugely popular world of fantasy sports took to Esports. Vulcun have made their debut in the market, offering fantasy League of Legends for both fun and real money, with up to $250,000 USD in prizes up for grabs.

Fantasy sports have traditionally been limited to physical sports, football, basketball, baseball and in Australia, NRL and AFL. For the uninitiated they involve fans selecting a team of players, usually within a restrictive salary cap, with the players real world performance scoring fantasy points based on special scoring criteria (in League of Legends this is based on kills, deaths and assists) and totaling your teams score. Most leagues are played head to head, over a regular season or in week by week cash games, which seems to be Vulcun’s forte.

Both cash and free games are available, with the site currently accessible by invite only, you can request one here. The LCS season begins 22 January, I imagine Vulcun will be open to the public at that point.
