Eidos Montreal: You can’t talk your way out of boss fights in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Eidos Montreal has come out to clarify some misunderstandings about the boss fights in upcoming Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.

Previously we reported that players will have a range of options for dealing with boss fights and that they could be potentially bypassed through using conversation options. According to Gameplay Director Patrick Fortier in an interview with Eurogamer, fans misunderstood and misconstrued what he said previously.

“I started reading you can take-down bosses by talking to them – it’s like, ‘Whoa, whoa, whoa! Where did this come from?'” he said, explaining, “through your social interactions leading up to a boss fight you might have talked to people, or you might have explored, or you might have obtained certain elements or means to deal with the boss fight.”

Fortier reiterated that players could play the entire game without killing any other character including bosses saying, “When we say you can complete the whole game without killing anybody, bosses are people too, so they’re included – there’s no exception. There used to be [in Human Revolution] the achievement Pacifist that said ‘don’t kill anybody’, and then in parentheses ‘except bosses’ or something like that. And that’s not the case any more.”

So there you have it You won’t be able to talk your way out of boss fights, but you will be given a wide range of options as compared to Human Revolution.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will be available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One in 2016.
