Early Japanese sales indicate preference to New 3DS XL

Famitsu have reported the opening weekend sales of the New Nintendo 3DS LL (the XL for Western markets) and the New Nintendo 3DS, with a near 3-1 sales advantage to the larger system. Nintendo have sold 172,000 New 3DS LL units and 61,000 New 3DS units over the first weekend of availability.

We’ll have to see if this trend holds when the system is released to Australia 21 November, ahead of a worldwide launch in 2015.
