EA: Xbox One is catching up to PS4 in sales

EA CFO Blake Jorgensen has claimed that the Xbox One is catching up in sales to the PlayStation 4.

Speaking at the UBS Global Technology Conference in California Jorgensen said, “Sony has jumped out to a lead with a great console and I think a great pricing strategy”, but believes that Microsoft “will continue to pull the consumer into the new consoles.”

Jorgensen and EA must have access to numbers the rest of us aren’t privy to as PlayStation 4 has sold 13.5 million units as of October while the Xbox One had shipped 10 million units as of last week. The distinction is important as sold means in the hands of consumers while shipped means sent to retail only and not yet in the homes of gamers.

Jorgensen applauded Microsoft’s $50 price cut for the holiday season in North America, believing it will help them close the gap. He estimates combined sales to top 25 million by year’s end.
