Don’t like Siri? Maybe Cortana is more your kind of girl

Microsoft announced today that the Cortana app for Windows Phone and Windows 10 will be making its way to Android and iOS devices. It will allow users of any phone to interact with their Windows machine and access OneDrive, OneNote and Office documents on tablet and phone.

While Cortana (or the Windows 10 Phone Companion as it is officially known) won’t be able to replicate some of the Windows Phone features such as launching other apps, those of you who want a seamless desktop to phone and tablet experience will be happy with this news, especially if you haven’t already embraced your phones own note taking facilities, Siri’s integration with Maps and search and don’t use another storage solution like Dropbox, Google Drive or Google Docs.

So yes, most of what Cortana offers you can already do elsewhere on your phone but it is still interesting to see increased connectivity between desktop and mobile platforms. The Phone Companion will be integrated into Windows 10 and available for Android in June and iPhone later this year. You can read the full announcement on the Windows Blog.
