This is why you can’t pre-order an Xbox One X yet

The internet is losing its collective mind because the Xbox One X isn’t available for pre-order. With so many gamers tweeting at local retailers demanding why, we thought we’d break the reason down for you.

It’s simple, and is stated right on the Xbox One X website: pre-orders cannot be taken until the console has been approved by the USA’s Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Once that approval happens, we’re thinking Microsoft and retailers like EB Games Australia will be glad to take your hard earned.

“This device has not been approved by the Federal Communications Commission,” the note on the console’s splash page reads. “It is not for sale until the FCC approval has been obtained.”

Quite literally, that’s it.

Most retailers are organising waitlists until such time that pre-orders can officially be taken.

The Xbox One X, formerly Project Scorpio, was detailed at Microsoft’s press conference yesterday. It will retail in Australia for $649 AUD, or $499 USD in the United States.
