As part of Sony’s massive pre-release PS4 FAQ, it’s been revealed that gamers will not be able to change their online ID/Gamertag on PS4. Much like the PS3, once you have chosen your online moniker you are stuck with it forever.
Is there a way to rename my Online ID on PS4?
No. But PS4 does give you the option of allowing your friends to see your real name in addition to your Online ID. You can also choose to import your Facebook photo to be used as your PSN profile picture if you wish.
The PlayStation 4 will allow users to display their real name alongside their online ID, but for those with an embarrassingly juvenile or awful ID, you’re out of luck.
Microsoft has long allowed gamers to change their Gamertag for a fee, and will continue to do so on Xbox One.
There’s no word on whether Sony will introduce a similar system in the future.
