Bungie address loot concerns with latest Destiny patch

Bungie have made their biggest move to address concerns with Destiny today, releasing the anticipated 1.0.2 patch. It includes an update to how the Cryptarch decrypts engrams, with purple and blue engrams now guaranteed to produce an item of at least that rarity, fixing one of the biggest frustrations players have with the Destiny loot system.

This fix will make loot cave farming all the more lucrative, now that the rewards for farming engrams are improved. Bungie have already shown they don’t want Destiny players firing into caves for hours, so expect the new loot cave locations to be nerfed soon or ideally they rework how loot is distributed in the game.

Also updated in this patch are the crucible playlists, reducing the frequency of the Bastion and First Light maps (I’m just as happy about this as I am the Cryptarch fix) and improved rewards for the daily and weekly heroic missions. Full patch notes can be found here on Bungie.net.
