Joss Whedon, the creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly, will write, direct and produce a Batgirl feature film, Variety today reports.
Variety says the project originated “in the past month,” so further details are scarce.
Whedon is no stranger to superheroes — he’s written and directed both The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron. On television, he’s created Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Dollhouse and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Batgirl will be the second DC Comics feature film to focus on a female superhero, after this June’s Wonder Woman. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more.
