Battlefield: Hardline debuts Crosshair multiplayer mode

IGN has revealed the latest Battlefield: Hardline multiplayer mode, Crosshair. Crosshair is a 5 on 5 team based game in the Counter-Strike style, no respawns and short rounds. One team is charged with escorting a VIP to safety, the other with killing him. The focus is on gunplay with smaller levels and no vehicles, but the VIP can also defend themselves with a powerful pistol should things go bad.

There are some wrinkles, with the VIP being able to unlock heavy weapons caches for his team, but Crosshair is designed to encourage the hunt. The VIP has a lot of power in this game mode, their death ends the round so careless players can easily ruin a lot of good work. It remains to be seen how this affects public play, but for organised competitive games Crosshair sounds like a fun twist on standard team deathmatch.

Battlefield: Hardline is being developed by Visceral Games and arrives 19 March for Xbox One, PS4, PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. Our single player preview can be found here.
