Australian-created petition asks Nintendo to name a Zelda character after Robin Williams

A new Change.org petition, created by Adelaide gamer Nick Schaedel, is asking Nintendo to name a Legend of Zelda character after Robin Williams.

Schaedel asks that a character named “Robin” features in the Legend of Zelda game recently showcased at E3. Williams himself tragically passed away earlier this week.

“Well, there’s a new Zelda game on the horizon. A bold reinvention, a fresh new open world adventure for Wii U. I would like to suggest that when the game is localised to English, Nintendo of America and the Treehouse name one of the characters “Robin” in his memory.

“He won’t get to play it, but he’ll live on forever in a universe he always loved,” Schaedel writes.

Robin Williams was a huge fan of the Zelda series, going as far as to name his own daughter after the franchise’s titular Princess.

Nintendo has yet to comment on the petition.
