Amazon: Twitch is absolutely doing a great job and we don’t want to change that at all

Following Amazon’s purchase of streaming giant Twitch for $970 million USD, both companies held a town hall meeting to discuss the merger. Twitch CEO Emmett Shear and VP of Games for Amazon Michael Frazzini took to the stage to set out a road map for the future.

Both men were keen to stress that Twitch would remain in control of its operations, but as a subsidiary of Amazon. The whole affair was transcribed by The Daily Dot with Shear saying, “The exciting thing about the Amazon deal is I get to keep doing what I do. The only change is I get to do it faster.” Shear noted that Amazon has the capacity to support and expand Twitch with its backend infrastructure, engineering and relationships with developers and advertisers.

Frazzini reiterated that Amazon has no plans to change Twitch as it “is absolutely doing a great job.” He added that Twitch has created a “phenomenal community” and this merger is just the beginning.
