A new hero and time period for the next Assassin’s Creed

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has been very busy today. He spoke about the Wii U and next-gen and also found the time to announce that a brand new Assassin’s Creed game would launch before April 2014. He said the game will feature an “all-new Assassin’s Creed hero, within an all new team and time period” and will be “another major leap forward for the franchise”.

Guillemot attributes the multiple teams working within Ubisoft as the reason why they are able to produce sequels annually without compromising scope or quality. “It is the benefit of multiple teams working on multiple chapters of the product” with “each getting several years to make their versions of an Assassin’s Creed game” he said.

It is not clear which team within Ubisoft is working on the new title, when exactly it will be released or for which platforms.

The first episode of the single player DLC for Assassin’s Creed III – “The Tyranny of King Washington” will be available for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on 20 February.
