Those who’ve played Skyrim with an Nvidia card on Windows PC know there’s a little trick to get a bit more power from a Bethesda Game Studios title. Turns out, the trick works on Fallout 4 too.
Here’s how to turn off the game’s frame rate cap:
- Ensure you have the latest Nvidia card drivers.
- Open Fallout 4. Head to Options and make sure Motion Blur is off, God Rays are low and everything else is maxed.
- Close Fallout 4.
- Under your Fallout 4 game folder, find Fallout4Prefs.ini and make sure the file isn’t read-only.
- Open Fallout4Prefs.ini with Notepad and change iPresentlnterval=1 to iPresentlnterval=0.
- Save and close the file, then make it read-only.
- Head into the Nvidia Control Panel, go to Manage 3D Settings, then its Program Settings tab.
- Find Fallout 4.exe and apply v-sync.
Tada! Enjoy.
