Destiny: “Wrath of the Machine” Raid guide: Archpriest Vosik

“Rise of Iron”, Destiny‘s newest expansion, also brings with it the new “Wrath of the Machine” Raid.

As we complete the Raid ourselves, we thought it helpful to give other Guardians hints and tips to progress. Keep in mind that everything from this point onward is very spoiler heavy.

Archpriest Vosik, Part I

Your first challenge in the Raid is Archpriest Vosik. To defeat him, you’ll need to charge up three generators scattered throughout the map.

To do so, you’ll need to have a runner (or two, or three) run to one of many lit pillars also scattered around the map; doing so will add a Voltage buff to your player. From there, you’ll have fifteen seconds to either grab another Voltage buff (and you want to do this, really, grabbing four in total), or run to a generator to deposit the charge.

It’s not that easy, though — there are many adds scattered about that’ll try to wreck you — but most importantly, those not running will need to destroy giant Voltage Eater Shanks before they can steal some of the charge deposited at your generators.

Fully charging a generator will cause SIVA Charges to drop; grab them and throw them at Archpriest Vosik to bring down his shield and eventually damage him.

When you’ve exhausted each generator and thrown all your SIVA Charges, then it’s time to do some straight-up DPS. Hit him with everything you’ve got until he teleports away.

Our Fireteam managed this feat as a team of five. One Guardian ran all the charges, while our two highest Light Guardians manned a generator, clearing adds, each. Finally, our remaining two, lowest Light Guardians teamed up to man the final generator. Once Vosik was exposed, we had a Hunter tether him whilst everyone dropped whatever they could into him — a high-level Gjallarhorn works well here (when doesn’t it, though?).

Archpriest Vosik, Part II

Once you follow the rather linear path, you’ll get to your final encounter with Vosik. It’s in a room that looks like a Splicer command centre, with the area around Vosik littered with giant monitors. On the outside of the room are four safe rooms — two on each side. In your Fireteam, label the rooms with designations you all understand. Get it? Got it? Good.

This encounter will throw a bunch of adds at your team, originating from back left, back right and the centre of the room. You’re best to team up in groups to watch each path. Periodically, SIVA Charges will drop from the roof; it’s best to co-ordinate with your teammates to pick them up and throw them at Vosik all at the same time. Doing so will drop his shields down a portion. This will need to be done (perfectly) three times in a row to fully drop his shields, giving your Fireteam a chance to drop some DPS into Vosik’s health bar.

Keep in mind that during the last SIVA Charge drop, Elite Captains will also spawn — they’ll need to be taken care of quite quickly.

Once you’re into DPS mode, two additional SIVA Charges will drop from the ceiling. As two Fireteam members pick one up, each, and throw them at Vosik, the others should be heading to the safe rooms to see which one has an orange light inside it. That room is the safe room — one you’ll all need to pile into to prevent a wipe. While more than one room may be lit orange, it’s important to pick one room at a time — you can only activate its safety protocol once.

While Vosik’s got the “SIVA Density Critical” warning on-screen, book it to the safe room. When everyone’s inside (or at the very least, before Vosik goes critical), you’ll need to shoot the door lock to the right of the door. That’ll activate a Star Trek-like forcefield that will protect you from the SIVA discharge.

You’ll repeat that pattern up to five times to take Vosik down. As you progress, Splicer Dregs and Splicer Vandals will be replaced by Sniper and Exploding Shanks.

We again did this as a Fireteam of five, with our two lowest Guardians teaming up on one side, our highest level Guardians manning a checkpoint each, and our final man running floater. At the DPS point, we had our Titan drop a Blessing of Light bubble, had our Hunter tether Vosik, and had everyone else shooting away.

Again, if you want a video instead, look no further:

Heading to the next encounter

This provides your first SIVA Chest, unlockable with a special SIVA key. It’ll provide some decent gear.

From there, you’re again heading down a fairly linear path (accessible from the front right of the encounter) to a bit of a jumping bit. Before you get to the very end, turn around and look behind you — there’s a path to a thick beam at the top of the room you’re in, and there’s a chest at the opposite end of the beam.

Continuing onward will bring you to your next challenge: the Death Zamboni Siege Engine.
