E3 2015: 5,000 “prosumers” will pack into the expo alongside industry folk

Over the weekend, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) confirmed with Polygon that an extra 5,000 “prosumer” attendees will pack the Los Angeles Convention Centre’s already full halls for this year’s E3.

“This year, for the first time, there will be prosumers in the halls,” said the ESA’s Rich Taylor.

“Member exhibitors each have an allotment of some passes that they are permitted to distribute to their valued customers. There was a desire by a number of exhibitors and board members to connect with people directly.

“In this age of vast social media, having some of those voices in the hall to report their reaction and enthusiasm is seen as a big plus.”

Last year, 49,000 members of the press, exhibitors and other industry representatives attended E3. The ESA expects that number to be around 54,000 with the “prosumers” included.

E3 runs over mid-June in Los Angeles.
