If, for some inexplicable reason, you’ve already played The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on PS4 or Xbox One and plan to buy the upcoming Game of the Year Edition, be aware saves won’t carry across.
“The save files on consoles won’t be compatible between different game versions (GOTY vs regular version) as they are treated by systems as separate products. This is something that’s not up to us. Sorry,” CD Projekt Red Community Manager Marcin Momot wrote on the official forums.
However, that does mean The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – GOTY Edition will have its own Achievements and Trophy list, he confirmed on Twitter.
@thakki It will have a separate achievement list.

If you want to double up on Achievements and Trophies, you’ll need to replay most of the game anyway.
For existing players with a save file worth persisting with, but no longer with a copy of the game, it’s currently cheaper to rebuy it all separately on PS4. The GOTY Edition will include The Witchter 3 and its two expansions (Hearts of Stone & Blood and Wine). The main game + season pass is currently $70 in the PS Store Winter Sale (or $31 for just the main game). The GOTY Edition will retail for $10 more at R.R.P. $80.
