Valve gives CS:GO betting sites ten days to shut down or have their accounts deleted

Valve has issued violation notices to at least twenty-three betting sites that are leveraging Steam APIs.

“We are aware that you are operating one of the gambling sites listed below,” wrote Karl Quackenbash, Valve’s general counsel, in a letter that was posted by site CS:GO Big. “You are using Steam accounts to conduct this business. Your use of Steam is subject to the terms of the Steam Subscriber Agreement (‘SSA’).”

The letter continues to order the sites to “immediately cease and desist further use of your Steam accounts for any commercial purpose.”

Valve said it will potentially terminate accounts that don’t comply within ten days.

A week ago, Valve asked that sites that were taking advantage of Steam APIs to encourage Counter-Strike: Global Offensive betting cease operations.
