Astro and Sony yesterday advised that chat on USB headsets — including Astro’s A30, A40 and A50 ranges — will work on the PS4 at launch day.
The PS4 1.50 firmware update, available at the console’s launch on 29 November in Australia and New Zealand, will include a patch enabling chat to work as normal.
Xbox One users are out of luck, as Microsoft’s new console will require an adapter to connect to the controller for voice chat. Astro still recommends that gamers use their Astro headset for audio, and the Xbox One Kinect for chat.
We recently reviewed the Astro Battlefield 4 edition A50 wireless headset, giving the product a 7.5/10 because of a lack of chat. It looks like we’ll have to slightly adjust that score.
