Universal Japan’s Super Nintendo World will be open for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics

Nintendo and Universal Studios today confirmed that the Tokyo-based Nintendo-themed centre, Super Nintendo World, will be open in time for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

“Super Nintendo World will be comprised of expansive and multilevel environments filled with unprecedented, state-of-the-art rides, interactive areas, shops and restaurants, all featuring Nintendo’s most popular characters and games,” the partnership said of the endeavour.

“Super Nintendo World will be developed mainly using [Universal Studios Tokyo’s] current parking area and part of an area designated for future expansion.”

The park is expected to bring in 6.2 trillion Yen for Japan’s Kansai region upon opening.

While Nintendo and Universal have confirmed parks in Tokyo, Hollywood and Orlando, only the Tokyo-based centre was detailed in a press release today.
