Microsoft Surface: New Surface Book, Surface Studio announced

As part of a series of new announcements today, Microsoft detailed a new iteration of the Surface Book alongside the new Surface Studio.

Surface Studio

First, the Surface Studio, a PC designed to “let… you visualise ideas as you paint, edit, and design.”

It’s pretty slick.

Witha 4.5k ultra HD touchscreen, Microsoft boasted that, “Surface Studio delivers 63% more pixels than a state-of-the-art 4K TV.”

The device also works with the Surface Pen and Surface Dial (seen in the video above).

In America, three options are currently available for pre-order:

  • $2,999 USD: 1TB, Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 2GB GPU
  • $3,499 USD: 1TB, Intel Core i7, 16GB RAM, 2GB GPU
  • $4,199 USD: 2TB, Intel Core i7, 32GB RAM, 4GB GPU

The Surface Studio is not available on the Australian Microsoft Store as yet.

Surface Book

The Surface Book has received an upgrade, offering up “twice the graphics performance and 30% more battery life,” according to Microsoft.

In Australia, there are three configurations on offer:

  • $3,799 AUD: 256GB, Intel Core i7, 8GB/dGPU
  • $4,399 AUD: 512GB, Intel Core i7, 8GB/dGPU
  • $5,199 AUD: 1TB, Intel Core i7, 16GB/dGPU

The Surface book is available from 8 December in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States.

In America, there are six configurations on offer:

  • $1,499 USD: 128GB, Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM
  • $1,699 USD: 256GB, Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM
  • $1,899 USD: 256GB, Intel Core i5, 8GB/dGPU
  • $2,399 USD: 256GB, Intel Core i7, 8GB/dGPU
  • $2,799 USD: 512GB, Intel Core i7, 8GB/dGPU
  • $3,299 USD: 1TB, Intel Core i7, 16GB/dGPU
