Project Scorpio: Microsoft confirms the next evolution of the Xbox One

Microsoft today confirmed its plans the next evolution of the Xbox One.

Phil Spencer took to the stage to introduce the following video package:

The rumoured specs of the console seem to be true — it’ll boast 6 teraflops, as previously reported. It also has 8 computing cores — and was described by many at Microsoft as “a beast”.

Spencer himself confirmed the new console was designed to support 4K gaming and high-fidelity VR.

The original Xbox One will of course still be supported alongside the new Xbox One Slim.

Project Scorpio is confirmed for holiday 2017.

We’ll have more on the console as it becomes available.
