GameStop CEO: The Nintendo NX isn’t going digital-only

GameStop CEO Paul Raines used an earnings call (as reported by Destructoid) to confirm that the Nintendo NX isn’t going fully digital.

“I would say that the fact that there are rumours of that type just confirms for you that this is an important console for next year,” Raines said. “It will have physical media, we will play a role in it, our pre-owned business will also play a role. So we’re excited about that.”

GameStop’s Mike Mauler added that while the retailer doesn’t know if Nintendo will drop a disc-based format in favour of cartridges, it doesn’t affect the business.

“The only difference would be on the refurbishment and pre-owned side. And actually, cartridges are much simpler to refurbish and repackage. o there is somewhat a little bit of an advantage if it went in that direction on used,” he said.

We’ll have more on the NX as it’s known.
