Fallout 4: PS4 mods stalled by three major issues

Bethesda today detailed three major issues that are holding mods back from the PS4 version of Fallout 4.

“PC textures are used,” Bethesda said, detailing the first issue. “Memory and performance issues may occur. We are working with Sony on optimal texture exporting support in a future update.”

The second issue relates to sound. As Sony uses s proprietary sound format, Bethesda and Sony will need to work together on sound processing support.

Finally, the PS4’s mod storage limit is a paltry 900MB, so large mods are unsupported at this time. Bethesda asserted it’s working with Sony to try and solve the issue.

Bethesda also said that the closed beta for mods on PS4 is “close to ready”, so all hope is not yet lost.

Mods are already supported inside the Windows PC and Xbox One versions of Fallout 4.

We’ll have more as its made available.
