Overwatch: 9.7 million beta players; live artwork and launch party in Sydney

Overwatch‘s beta has finished up, and as gamers wait for its official release in a fortnight, there’s still lots going on.

First, Blizzard declared that 9.7 million players took part in Overwatch‘s beta on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4. That’s more players than The Division has, though keep in mind people have paid to play that particular title. Maybe things will change on 24 May when Overwatch hits store shelves?

Moreover, Blizzard’s got a piece of live, growing artwork commissioned for Overwatch‘s release. Already featuring Tracer and Lucio, you can check the billboard out as it’s being made, in person, at 140 Foveaux Street in Sydney’s Surry Hills. If you can’t make it out, you can check out this Facebook gallery to see how it’s all going.

Blizzard will also be hosting an Overwatch launch party at the new ESL studio in Sydney. For more on that event, head here.
