Halo 5’s free “Memories of Reach” DLC detailed

343 took to the Halo Waypoint blog to detail Halo 5: Guardians‘ next free update, “Memories of Reach”.

The content will change the way in which players matchmake with new preferences across Arena and Warzone modes. Players will be able to choose between Balanced, Expanded and Focused matchmaking. Here’s a rundown off all three options:

  • Balanced (default): Search for a match based on your fireteam’s skill and network connection quality.
  • Expanded: Widen search parameters to find the first available match with reasonable skill matching and network connection quality.
  • Focused: Narrow search to find the best match based on your fireteam’s skill and connection. Search times may be longer than normal.

The game will also sport new post-match options which will detail medals earned, who a player killed the most (and who killed him or her the most) alongside much more.

The update will also fix a bug caused by the Spartan Charge ability.

“We’ve fixed a bug where Spartan Charge would not properly target enemies at the edges of a red reticle on the horizontal plane (you can still get red reticle and miss vertically),” 343 said.

“Fear not, though–players who skillfully evade a Spartan-Charging player with Thrust will still escape without taking damage. Additionally, Spartan Charge with Speed Boost will no longer be a one-hit kill, and Spartan Charge with the Gravity Hammer will no longer be a one-hit kill.”

Finally, the update will bring a host of new REQ gear, including armor inspired by Halo: Reach’s Noble team, alongside the super-fun, zombie-like Infection mode.
