Pokkén Tournament’s Ferrum League, online offerings detailed

Nintendo today detailed Pokkén Tournament‘s Ferrum League and online modes.

Said league makes up the single-player game mode exclusive to the Wii version of the game. Battles take place in the all-new Ferrum region, purpose built for the fighter. The league itself is separated into four smaller leagues, each requiring a specific rank to access.

“As players win their way through the league, new Pokémon will be unlocked to be used as Support Pokémon and the number of selectable stages will also increase,” Nintendo said of the mode.

During the League, Shadow Mewtwo will challenge players; only those who best the character will learn its secrets. That said, pre-ordering the game provides access to a Shadow Mewtwo amiibo card that immediately unlocks the character when used.

Winning matches in the Ferrum League players will earn Poké Gold (PG), which in turn is used to customise a player’s Battle Trainer. Customisation items include hairstyles, outfits and accessories.

Pokkén Tournament will also feature local and online multiplayer. Local multiplayer will take use of the Wii U Gamepad and other compatible controllers, including the Wii U Pro Controller,  Classic Controller Pro (a Wii Remote Controller or Wii Remote Controller Plus is required to use this controller) or Pokkén Tournament Pro Pad. Online battles include Ranked and Friendly matches.

Pokkén Tournament will be available from 19 March, exclusive to the Wii U.
