Nintendo has begun to sell the Wii U GamePad as a standalone item in Japan.
The announcement was made on Nintendo’s official website. Translated by Kotaku, the standalone GamePad is said to cost 12,800 yen, or approximately $145 AUD.
The standalone price is currently cheaper than the fee Nintendo charges to replace a broken GamePad — that cost is currently $140 USD, or $195 AUD.
Nintendo hasn’t announced plans to introduce the standalone GamePad to western shores (or stores).
