Bungie Weekly Update hints at upcoming exotics and big weapon balance changes for Destiny

It’s Friday so that means another installment of the Bungie Weekly Update is here to tease at all the exciting things in store for Destiny’s Guardians.

The December update, a.k.a. 2.1.0, is coming and bringing with it some pretty big balance changes for weapons. The era of the Pulse Rifle is drawing to a close with flat nerfs across the board to all four archetypes that increase time to kill by around one burst. Sadly, Auto Rifles are being buffed with the Medium Rate of Fire archetype receiving a whopping 7% damage increase. That includes the Zhalo Supercell which is an already annoying weapon to fight.

Shotguns are getting smacked around again in an effort to counter their dominance at range. Shotguns have long had a remarkable amount of range for a close quarters weapon but in 2.1.0 that is set to change. Both Fusion Rifles and Sidearms are being altered to fit their niche a little better and give them a place in the competitive landscape while Snipers are being toned down. Luck in the Chamber will now only proc on precision shots rendering the perk almost useless. Handcannons have largely been considered underpowered since “The Taken King” launched but will be receiving their own quality of life buffs in 2.0.1. You can read all about the proposed balance changes here.

The Destiny Refer-A-Friend program is coming next Monday 23 November with the aim to help Veteran Guardians sherpa Kinderguardians and others new to “The Taken King” into the world of Destiny. The program will reward both the Veteran and Kinderguardian with a special shader, emblem and sparrow for their efforts.

Finally Bungie have hinted at some brand new Year 2 exotics that will be entering the loot table soon as well as the return of some Year 1 favourites. To read more you can check out the Weekly Update for yourself here.
