According to Sony’s Worldwide Boss Shuhei Yoshida, PSN users may never be able to change their IDs.
During Paris Games Week, Yoshida took over the French PlayStation Twitter account and was asked if the feature would be coming. In a video response (below) he admitted that he was unsure if it was even possible.

Yoshida said, “We are aware lots of people are asking for the feature, and our engineers have been looking into what they can do.
“As soon as we know, you know, we will let you know, but as of today, we don’t even know if we can ever do it. Hopefully, we will be able to provide that feature in the future.”
