Rock Band 4 was recently released in North America and has so far been racking up some impressively positive reviews on Amazon. But, not all is what it seems.
According to Reddit, some of the user reviews are being written by Harmonix employees and not members of the general public. This was discovered by clicking through the to the user’s wishlists and revealing that their real names matched those of Harmonix developers.
In a comment made to Destructoid, Harmonix said;
[blockquote style=”1Harmonix has clarified its internal policy about posting reviews of our own products on retail sites, and we’ve asked that existing reviews be edited to identify Harmonix employees or be removed entirely,” Harmonix said in a statement. “While we believe the reviews posted by a few employees were sincere and without ill intentions, as a studio we don’t believe these are appropriate actions. We appreciate the feedback from the community, and take our relationship with our fans seriously.[/blockquote]
Following the statement to Destructoid, some reviews were edited to reflect the nature of the author. Thankfully, some of Harmonix’s employees have a sense of humour and so reviews like the one below have been added.
