Riot Games Oceania posted a competitive ruling last night detailing a violation of the Oceanic Pro League Team Agreement by local organisation Team Immunity. Team Immunity had been failing to pass on the match payments to their players that Riot provides all teams with.
Teams are given a specified amount of time in which to pay their players but, despite multiple warnings, Team Immunity still failed to pay its players and Riot was forced to take action. Team Immunity have been banned from owning or being involved in any League of Legends team — including university and challenger competitions — for 2 years.
“The OPL believes it is important that professional players in Oceania receive match payments to compensate them for the time and effort they put into their play, as well as the pressures they face. We believe it is unacceptable for organisations to repeatedly withhold or delay payments owed to their players,” said CptStupendous in the official announcement. “Unfortunately, Team Immunity has repeatedly proven they are not capable of operating at the standards we expect on behalf of their players and fans. The players themselves, however, have done nothing wrong here, and we will work with them as they decide what path to follow in the 2016 season of OPL.”
Riot has promised to ensure the former players for Team Immunity receive their payments and help them find a new organisation for next season.
