Chet Faliszek of Valve is sick of VR making people sick

“The idea that VR must get you sick is bullsh*t,” said Chet Faliszek of Valve when speaking at EGX earlier this month. For some time now it has been generally accepted that VR technologies such as Vive or the Oculus Rift may make you sick when using them. Faliszek disagrees with this sentiment, pinning the fault on the developers rather than the technology.

“It’s no longer the hardware’s fault any more,” he said. “It’s the developers making choices that are making you sick. Tell them that you don’t want that.” Faliszek reckoned that the use of gamepads and other regular buttons contributed to the sick feeling, and that moving away from these will alleviate the issue.

This like one of the last hurdles VR has to clear before becoming a common occurance in gaming. Let’s hope they clear it up soon.
