Phil Spencer wants to bring JRPG’s to Xbox One’s backwards compatibility

Phil Spencer’s Twitter account is always a good source of information, and today he has given JRPG fans some hope regarding backwards compatibility of Xbox 360 games Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon.

Lost Odyssey is an epic, three disc game that feels very much like a high resolution, 32-bit Final Fantasy, funnily enough written by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi. It has all the limitations and frustrations you would expect of that era but also a fantastic story and characters with great combat systems. Blue Dragon was the first game from Sakaguchi’s studio Mistwalker and was not as well received, criticised for lacking in character and story and being a very “safe” JRPG. Both would be interesting to revisit, and hopefully with the backing of the Head of Xbox it can happen.
